For the first time in decades, the City of Leawood is bringing back an old-fashioned Independence Day Parade in honor of America 250. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. on July 4 along the newly reconstructed Tomahawk Creek Parkway, and we would love to see residents from every neighborhood lining the route.
This year's parade is packed with excitement, featuring more than 50 entries, including the Kansas City Chiefs Rumble, classic cars, war horses, community groups, local organizations, and much more. KC Journalism legend, FOX4's John Holt, will serve as emcee, while live DJs and food trucks help create a festive atmosphere throughout the corridor. Bring a lawn chair, gather your neighbors, and enjoy a truly memorable community celebration.
The fun doesn't stop there. That evening, we'll continue Leawood's longtime tradition of Celebration in the Park at Leawood City Park beginning at 6 p.m. In honor of America 250, we're making this year's event bigger than ever, with expanded activities, entertainment, family fun, and an enhanced fireworks show synchronized to music. It's going to be a spectacular way to close out Independence Day.
